Performance notes: this is one of my favorite Christmas songs, and it's less familiar than the traditional ones. Christina Rossetti’s visually descriptive words and Mahler’s nearly understated melody combine to create a completely satisfying, musical experience. I’ve arranged this as a four hand/one piano duet. Your goal? Two playing as one. Of course, twice the fingers allows us to create some additional colors and textures, but be mindful of playing with unity and precision. Keep the melody prominent, and the accompaniment parts secondary. Throughout the piece, emphasize the falling snow motif that begins in the introduction, allowing it to interpret and color the entire arrangement.
