Performance notes: instead of the typical gospel feel, I’ve arranged this “Christmas spiritual” with a type of tone poem feel. Where I live (way out in the country, away from the city lights), you can literally see thousands of twinkling stars on a clear night. That’s the scene I’ve tried to capture in this simple setting. The melody notes need to sparkle and glimmer like the stars. Use lots of pedal/sustain and let the notes and chords sort of mingle together to create a shimmering effect.
